World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure how much it can be improved upon an update.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Suggested Site and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.
Leveling
item upgrades for items allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player upgrade the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with an initial level and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea but it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player continuously enters or exits water. The item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the costs that are listed above.
